Simon Welcomes Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen to Fort Worth!
Doc B’s Fresh Kitchen has something for everyone — they guarantee it! As founder Craig Bernstein told us, the Chicago-based chain of eateries centers on a “no veto-vote menu,” meaning that no matter who you are dining with, no matter what occasion or party size, everyone will find something to satisfy their craving and will leave happy. That must be why Doc B’s and Simon are such a good fit together, and why we’re so excited to welcome the restaurant’s eighth location to The Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth, Texas.
To mark the occasion of the new opening, we chatted with Bernstein about the restaurant and the phenomenal growth it’s seen since he founded it just five years ago. Not in Fort Worth? No worries! You can check out the dining options at a Simon near you to discover your next delicious meal!
Welcome to Fort Worth! Tell us about the decision to open the newest (eighth!) Doc B’s here.
We love Texas! We have Doc B’s locations in Austin and Dallas, so Fort Worth was a natural expansion, plus Doc B’s fits right in at The Shops at Clearfork!
What makes The Shops at Clearfork the perfect location?
As the mall was being built, our team trusted that it would be the best-in-class, first-rate lifestyle center that we were looking for. The restaurant is designed to be intimate and welcoming, while maintaining the comfort of a local favorite. We felt like Doc B’s was the perfect hangout spot for the bustling, animated vibe at The Shops at Clearfork. The expansive outdoor patio is great for groups to gather over some cocktails and relax. The setting is perfect!
How would you describe the overall aesthetic of the restaurant?
Doc B’s has a hip, chic design with lots of natural lighting, all of which combine for a cool, no-fuss dining experience.
And Doc B’s is named after your father?
My father was always my hero. He was a beloved doctor in the New York area who made a positive impact on everyone he came in contact with. It was my dream to own restaurants and work in the hospitality industry since I was a kid, and my dad was very supportive. Following his sudden death, I didn’t slow down. I kept my pursuing my dreams, and three years after his passing, I opened the first Doc B’s in Chicago in honor of my dad, my biggest fan. We have dishes named after him on every menu. In Fort Worth, you have to try Rob’s Double Decker Chocolate Cake, a classic-yet-indulgent dessert.
How does this new Fort Worth restaurant compare to other Doc B’s locations?
Every restaurant has its own twist on the classics of that region, and each location’s menu and design are slightly different. We always try to elevate a local artist and feature them on our walls. At Doc B’s Fort Worth, we also have the spacious outdoor patio with a fire pit and seating area — it’s sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
You said the menu is a bit different here — are there any items in Fort Worth that you feel cater especially to the Texas palate?
Yes! For starters, we offer a savory dip trio that features fresh guacamole, rustic salsa, a brand-new black bean hummus, and tortilla chips — all made from scratch daily. This appetizer is great for snacking and sharing. We’ll be incorporating more Southwestern dishes, such as assorted tacos and specialty burgers, into our daily menu specials.
