Summer Travel Meets Summer Style – Texas
They say that everything is bigger in Texas, and when it comes to the Lone Star State edition of our Summer Travel Meets Summer Style series, our Texas Premium Outlets are no exception. We’ve already turned our attention to the Mid-Atlantic, Northern California, the center of the country, and the East Coast, and today we’re sharing some of our favorite Texas destinations. So if Austin, San Antonio, or Dallas are on your travel list in the coming months, your planning starts here!
Let’s begin with San Marcos Premium Outlets — a short drive from both Austin and San Antonio, SMPO is consistently ranked among the nation’s top shopping centers and was even named by ABC’s The View as the #3 shopping destination in the world. With more than 145 luxury retailers, including many you’ll find nowhere else in Texas — brands like Gucci, Prada, Diane Von Furstenberg, Cole Haan, and Victoria’s Secret among them — it’s little wonder why! Nicknamed the gateway to Texas Hill Country, SMPO is nestled in the midst of some of Texas’ top tourist destinations. Thrillseekers will love that both Fiesta Texas — a Six Flags amusement park — and Schlitterbahn Waterpark & Resort are nearby. Keep that splish-splash going with a visit to San Antonio’s Sea World. For a historical moment in San Antonio, The Alamo shouldn’t be missed, and afterward, be sure to unwind and take in the sites with a stroll along The River Walk.
If your destination is Dallas, be sure to check out Allen Premium Outlets. Located just north of Dallas, Allen is currently undergoing a massive expansion project that will add even more shops and amenities to the 100+ retailers it already houses. Since the center is outdoors, you won’t have to miss a moment of sunshine and fresh air while enjoying the extra shopping and dining options, plus the areas around Allen Premium Outlets are chock-full of things to do! Be sure to take in a Cowboys or Mavericks game, and no visit to the Lone Star State would be complete without sampling some famous Texas barbecue — we recommend Lockhart Smokehouse. Nothing goes with a good meal quite like live music, so be sure to check the schedule for the Amphitheater at Oak Point Park and their amazing outdoor festival lineup. Should you be Texas-bound toward the end of summer, hang around to see the Plano Balloon Festival, one of the largest gatherings of hot air balloons to be found anywhere.
We aren’t through yet! While we’ve covered most of the country, we still have one stop left on our Summer Travel Meets Summer Style road trip: Southern California. Be sure to check back tomorrow for the last stop on our summer travel guide!
